Rick King
Chief Technology Officer, Professional Division, Thomson Reuters
Rick King is chief technology officer for the Professional division of Thomson Reuters, the foremost provider of intelligent information solutions to legal, financial, healthcare, science, tax and accounting professionals worldwide. In this role, he leads strategic and operational technology initiatives for all of the business units within the division.
Mr. King has been with Thomson Reuters since 2000 and has held several executive-level roles, including chief operations officer for Thomson Reuters, Legal, where he led groups including Technology; Customer Services; Content and Editorial; and Manufacturing, Distribution & Engineering. Prior to Thomson Reuters, Mr. King held executive-level positions at Ceridian Employer Services, Jostens Learning and WICAT Systems Inc. Mr. King began his career as an educator with Chittenden Central School District in Vermont.
Mr. King is recognized regionally and nationally as an expert on broadband and chaired Minnesota's Ultra High-Speed Broadband Task Force, which delivered a landmark report and statewide goals that were adopted by the state legislature. Mr. King serves on Minnesota's Science and Technology Authority Advisory Council; on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Telecommunication and e-Commerce Committee; and on the City of Eden Prairie Budget Advisory Commission. Also, Mr. King serves as a trustee for the Science Museum of Minnesota and a member of the University of Minnesota's China Center Advisory Council and previously chaired the City of Eden Prairie's Flying Cloud Airport Advisory Commission.
Mr. King was honored as Minnesota's 2008 Technology Executive of the Year by the Minnesota High Tech Association and was named to Computerworld's Top 100 Leaders in IT in 2007.
Mr. King earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Vermont.
