EAGAN, Minn., March 23, 2009 – A free video excerpt of a continuing legal education (CLE) course featuring United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia and noted legal writer Bryan Garner is now available on the
West LegalEdcenter Web site.
Justice Scalia and Garner, editor of Black's Law Dictionary®, led the CLE seminar at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in July 2008. It is based on their book,
Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges, published by West.
The five-hour seminar was attended by legal professionals and scholars, and provided a "master's level" exchange of ideas and strategies, peppered with the wit and insights of Justice Scalia and Garner, who are considered pre-eminent authorities on legal writing and argument. Garner's LawProse firm hosted the discussion and seminar. All profits from the event were donated to Legal Aid of Washington, D.C.
"Who better to teach courtroom persuasion and argument than Justice Scalia and Bryan Garner," said Lee Ann Enquist, vice president, Professional Development, West. "We're delighted to make part of this seminar available for West LegalEdcenter customers to help them improve their practice skills and further their professional development."
Attorneys and legal professionals who register at West LegalEdcenter and watch the one hour excerpt of the program are eligible to receive CLE credits.
