ISAAC: THE BIKER
Everything's Bigger In Texas. Even The Bikes.
Week One: Take a motorcycle safety course. Week Two: Go out and get a motorcycle, and get one that's bigger than heck and half of Texas. While many would start motorcycling small, Isaac Shutt decided to go big right from the get go. That's how he goes about life: full throttle.
Isaac talks about his first motorcycle the way one might talk about the dog you grew up with. It was a 1200cc Honda Gold Wing, a 1981 – the first bike, the one he fixed up, and eventually completely restored. "It was the bike I learned on," Isaac says nostalgically about the Gold Wing. "I like getting greasy as much as I like the wind in my hair."
He fixed it up so well that he eventually sold it for a profit, enough to trade up to a bigger bike: a 1600cc Kawasaki Nomad, pictured bottom left. Yes, there are bigger bikes available, and Isaac will eventually trade up again, probably to something 2100cc.
Isaac's next motorcycle will be almost twice the size as his first.
Rev It Up And Lean Into It
Going with a big bike as your first bike goes against the grain. So does deciding during law school to go solo. But that's what Isaac did. He then set about making the decision regarding which practice area to go into by talking with established attorneys. He wanted to find a practice area that would make him happiest, and therefore, the best attorney he can be. He chose probate.
"I love my practice area. I can be a comfort to people and often times, I'm the bearer of good news when they are expecting bad. Because I've streamlined my practice, I can minimize my cost and pass it along to my client."
Streamlining his costs and his practice also allows Isaac time to play bass clarinet in a community band. It's all part of being a good citizen and giving back. "It's important to have a life outside of law. It makes you a better attorney," he says.
Let's Ride
Isaac leaves it all behind on Sundays, when he rides out to the Texas hill country, a picturesque drive with winding two-way roads. And he creates time for himself by using WestlawNext®.
"I was able to streamline my practice partly because of WestlawNext. It allows me to focus as much on being a counselor to my clients as an attorney. It frees me up to focus on the human aspects, allowing me to give personal attention to people at a time in their lives when they need some extra personal attention."
Isaac found that WestlawNext is updated more frequently than competitors. That means he can count on WestlawNext to have the most current and accurate information. WestlawNext helps Isaac find the most convenient probate solution for his clients and offer them some alternatives.
Isaac knows quality when he sees it. As they say in Texas, this ain't his first rodeo.

Isaac's first bike was a 1981 Gold Wing. He still speaks of it nostalgically today.
