1. Select a rental product and add it to your cart.
2. Complete registration, checkout, and pay the first month's rental fee.
3. Look for your purchase confirmation email, which contains a code that gives you instant access to the electronic version of your rental.
4. Receive the hard copy of your rental in the mail. Remember to save the box to return the rental when finished.
5. Pay a monthly rental fee for each month you use the product.
6. Return your rental and monthly charges will cease.

We currently offer many of our most popular casebooks for rent, and plan to add more books to the program over time. To see if a specific book is in the rental program, search for the title on store.westlaw.com and look for the rental option on the product detail page. If the rental option does not appear, the book is not currently part of the rental program. Please check store.westlaw.com regularly to see which books are available for rent.

Writing and highlighting are allowed, and we encourage you to do what is necessary for you to adequately prepare for class. Damages far beyond reasonable wear and tear may result in damage charges up to the balance of the book's list price. For instance, missing pages, intentionally obscuring the text so that it is unreadable, or removing the covers may result in damage charges.

Books rented from us are guaranteed to be correct according to your order, and in an acceptable used or new condition. If you're unhappy with the quality of any book we rent, please call Customer Service at 1-800-328-4880 and we'll ship you another copy by the quickest means available. Please return the original rental book using our postage paid UPS label.

In addition to the hard copy of your rental, you will also receive instant online access to the eBook version during the rental period. Look in your purchase confirmation email for a code that gives you instant access to the electronic version of your rental.

To access the online eBook, you must meet the minimum system requirements and be connected to the internet. The online eBook allows you to save all highlighting and notes you make during your rental period. You can access your eBooks through two web sites. Students with law student passwords may access your book through the Student Commons section of lawschool.westlaw.com. For all others, please visit ebooks.westlaw.com. For detailed instructions on how to access your eBook, please visit store.westlaw.com/rental. Access to the eBook version will terminate when you return the rental or 30 days after the eighth payment (whichever comes first). Some eBooks may have limited redacted content if we are unable to secure electronic distribution permission for third party content in the product.

If you lose the access code for your eBook, contact Customer Service at 1-800-328-4880. If you have any technical difficulties in using the eBook, contact Technical Support at 1-800-937-8529.

No, not at this time. The eBook is a web-based electronic version of the content that is accessible through any standard browser that is compatible with Adobe Flash.

If you rent a book from us, you only pay the first month's rental fee during checkout. On each subsequent monthly anniversary of your rental date, your credit card will be charged the monthly rate until the rental book is returned. Charges will end on the postmark date of your rental return shipment. Rental must be postmarked before the next billing date to prevent future charges. The monthly rate will not be prorated.

If the rental is not returned before the end of the seventh month, you will have paid the full retail price and ownership of the book will transfer to you without any additional penalties. Your account will be updated to ensure that no further charges are incurred. Access to the eBook version will terminate 30 days after the eighth payment.

Free UPS ground shipping within the continental United States is included with all rental products – both from our warehouse to you, and when you return the product to us. Customers outside the continental United States are responsible for the cost of return shipping, and may incur additional monthly charges until the rental products are received in our warehouse.

To return a rental product, please generate a prepaid UPS return shipping label by following these steps:

1. Click on the My Account link at the top of this page.
2. Sign in with your username and password.
3. Click the "My Rentals" section in the left navigation menu.
4. Check the box next to the rentals you want to return.
5. Click on the "Return" button.
6. Follow the prompts to generate your prepaid UPS label.
7. Include the packing slip in the box along with your rentals.

Return your rented books to us in a box using the prepaid shipping label (which may be retrieved from the "My Rentals" section of the My Account portion of the site). Your rental must be postmarked before your rental's next billing date to prevent future charges. All returns MUST be shipped using our prepaid shipping label to ensure delivery and proper accounting of your return. Print out and affix the prepaid shipping label to the outside of your return shipment, and drop off the package at a UPS location or drop box.

If you're not satisfied with your order in any way or it turns out you don't need the book, just return the book within 30 days and we'll provide a full refund. To request a refund, please call Customer Service at 1-800-328-4880 prior to returning the book. The start date of the 30-day refund qualifying period is from the day you place your order as noted on your order confirmation. To qualify for a full refund, your return package must be postmarked by UPS within 30 days of your order date.
