How do I create a WestClip entry that notifies me of all final and proposed rules announced by a federal agency?
A:
Use Agency Tracker instead.
You can access Agency Tracker through the Alert Center on Westlaw. Agency Tracker automatically notifies you whenever the federal agency or administrative office you designate issues a specific type of Federal Register notice or other administrative document, e.g., a final rule or executive order. Like WestClip, Agency Tracker monitors activity at the frequency you choose and delivers results to an e-mail address, attached printer, or other destination.
For example, use the Agency Tracker to alert you whenever the Securities and Exchange Commission issues a proposed or final rule.
To access Agency Tracker, click Alert Center at the top of any page, then click Create in the Agency Tracker section. The Federal Agency Tracking Service: Create Entry page is displayed. Select Receive notification for specific Federal Agency actions reported in the Federal Register and click Go.
The Federal Agency Tracking Service: Federal Agency Tracking page is displayed. Click Select Agency. The Federal Agency Tracking Service: Select Agency page is displayed. Browse the list of departments and administrative agencies by clicking the plus (+) and minus (-) symbols. You can select up to five agencies or departments to monitor by selecting the appropriate check boxes. Select the Securities and Exchange Commission check box. Click Save. Select the types of documents, e.g., Final Rules and Proposed Rules, you want to receive and, if desired, type a name in the Result Title text box. Click Edit in the upper-right corner to modify the delivery settings, if desired. When you are finished, click Save and then click Save again at the Federal Agency Tracking page.
