Use Westlaw to Keep Up with Trends in Litigation and Industry

Westlaw has many services and databases to make your work easier and more efficient.

Andrews Litigation Reporters

Andrews Mergers and Acquisitions Litigation ReporterAndrews litigation reporters cover the latest developments in approximately 40 areas of litigation. Links to several of these reporters are available in the left frame of the Westlaw GC page. Click a link, e.g., Mergers and Acquisitions, to display a list of article summaries. To view the full text of an article, click its title.

Click Sign Up for E-mail Delivery at the top of the page to display the Recent Developments E-Mail Subscription page. Select the check boxes for the updates you would like to receive by e-mail, type your e-mail address in the appropriate text box, select a delivery format, and click Subscribe. At the next page, you will receive a confirmation of your subscription.

Westlaw Topical Highlights

Westlaw Topical Highlights databases contain documents prepared by the West editorial staff that summarize recent developments in many topical areas including environmental law, bankruptcy, copyright, and labor and employment. To view a list of all available Topical Highlights databases, access the Westlaw Directory and click Highlights under Legal Periodicals and Current Awareness, then click Westlaw Topical Highlights.

Click a topic name to display a list of documents highlighting recent developments in that topical area. current articles. To view the full text of a document, click its title. Click Add Search to WestClip at the top of the page to create a WestClip® entry.

Use the WestClip service

You can use WestClip to monitor Andrews Litigation Reporter and Westlaw Topical Highlights databases. You can also use WestClip to track companies, products, or topics in the Allnews database (ALLNEWS); case law databases; the Text and Periodicals–All Law Reviews, Texts, and Bar Journals database (TP-ALL); and bill and regulation tracking databases. To create a new WestClip entry, click Alert Center at the top of any page. At the Alert Center Directory, click Create in the WestClip section. The WestClip: Create Entry page is displayed. Complete the page by typing information in the text boxes. If necessary, change delivery settings by clicking Edit. When you finish changing the delivery settings, click Save. Click Save again at the WestClip: Create Entry page.

Once you set up a WestClip entry, you don't need to do another thing except check your e-mail.

Use the Docket Alert service

The Docket Alert service automatically notifies you via e-mail of newly filed cases that may be of interest when you are monitoring a company. You can also choose to monitor existing cases and automatically receive an alert when a docket is changed or updated. To create a Docket Alert entry, click Alert Center at the top of any page. At the Alert Center Directory, click Create in the Docket Alert section. Then select either Receive an alert when there are new developments in a specific case or Receive an alert when new cases are filed. If you are viewing a docket record, you can click Track this Docket at the top of the record to create a Docket Alert entry to monitor new developments in the case.
