SMA-ARBAWARDS: For the maritime practitioner, more bang for the buck

Out-of-court Society of Maritime Arbitrators (SMA) arbitration awards—with SMA indexing—are now available in the Society of Maritime Arbitrators Awards database (SMA-ARBAWARDS) on Westlaw, beginning with 1970. SMA-ARBAWARDS will be maritime practitioners' preferred method for accessing SMA award documents, thanks to the following features:

  • integrated linking to cited cases and other documents
  • SMA indexing, where available, ensuring that your search doesn't miss relevant documents
  • ResultsPlus® links to related materials

A link to SMA-ARBAWARDS is displayed on the tabbed Admiralty/Maritime page, a one-stop maritime research clearinghouse with instant access to American Maritime Cases, state and federal court filings, American and U.K. statutes and forms, Schoenbaum's Admiralty and Maritime Law, and many other essential practice resources.

Note: To avoid confusion with related databases, the following changes have been made:

  • The identifier for the Domke: Society of Maritime Arbitrators-Rules database has been changed from SMA-RULES to DOMSMA-RULES.
  • The Society of Maritime Arbitrators, Inc.-All (SMA-ALL) and Society of Maritime Arbitrators, Inc.-Historical Rules (SMA-HRULES) databases have been removed; historical SMA rules can instead be found in appendix D of the Admiralty and Maritime Law database (ADMMARL).
