West BriefTools Links Only Version 2.7.0014 (05/14/2012)
This is the most recent version of West BriefTools Links Only and is recommended for all users. The system requirements, including compatible word-processing software and browsers are listed below.
A West BriefTools Links Only subscription is required in order to use this software. Contact your West consultant to subscribe.
Important: This software provides the Insert Link function only. For other West BriefTools features, (e.g., inserting and monitoring KeyCite flags), please refer to West BriefTools.
Minimum System Requirements
- Operating system: Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit, Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit
- Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
- Additional Software: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later
- Microsoft Word 2010, 2007, 2003, 2002, or 2000 or one of the following Corel WordPerfect versions:
- WordPerfect X5
- WordPerfect X4 Service Pack 1 (14.0.0.677)
- WordPerfect X3 (13.0.0.406)
- Processor: PC with 600 MHz processor or faster (Intel Pentium/Celeron family or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family)
- Internet connection
- Memory (RAM): At least 256MB of available RAM
- Hard disk space: 2GB
Additional Requirements
For the product to work properly, you must have the Microsoft Office Primary Interop Assemblies installed. You can install the assemblies from the following locations:
User Permissions for BriefTools Links Only
Note: The following user permissions are required for installing and running BriefTools Links Only. You must have administrator rights to install the software and to use the optional Updater application for installing software updates.
Running BriefTools Links Only
File Permissions (Default)
- Read and Execute, Read, and Write permissions for C:\Program Files\Thomson
- Read and Execute, Read, and Write permissions for [InstallationFolder]\Thomson (this may be same as above if not changed)
File Permissions (64-bit)
- Read and Execute, Read, and Write permissions for C:\Program Files\Thomson (Note: This directory will need to be created if it does not exist)
- Read and Execute, Read, and Write permissions for [InstallationFolder]\Thomson (by default this is C:\Program Files (x86))
Additional File Permissions (XP)
- Read and Execute, Read, and Write permissions for C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Thomson
Additional File Permissions (Vista)
- Read and Execute, Read, and Write permissions for C:\ProgramData\Thomson
Registry Permissions (Default)
- Full Control Permissions to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Thomson West and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Thomson West
Registry Permissions (64-bit OS)
- Full Control permissions to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Thomson West and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Thomson West and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Thomson West
Registry Permissions (Word) – needed only at time of installation/uninstallation (administrators usually have this permission)
- Full Control permission to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE
